NEWS

5/19/17

Several selfless Anaheim teachers, including our own Danbrook Elementary, are influencing young lives outside the classroom.

As volunteer mentors in Anaheim’s Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership, commonly known as GRIP, the teachers provide one-on-one mentorships to students in fourth through eighth grades whose lives hang in the balance because of poor decision-making.

In place at 12 Anaheim schools, GRIP uses a multipronged approach to effect lasting change. Teachers, parents, administrators and the police all play a role.

For more information, see the Behind The Badge article.

It was announced this week that 6 of Centralia's schools have been selected by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE) along with 1,866 other public schools in California to receive the title of 2016 Honor Roll school. They are: Buena Terra Elementary, George B. Miller Elementary, Glen H. Dysinger Sr. Elementary, Los Coyotes Elementary, Raymond Temple Elementary and San Marino Elementary.

The Honor Roll is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and highlight successful practices that improve outcomes for students. Schools receiving this distinction from leaders in the California academic and business communities have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time and reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.

Congratulations to our amazing students and staff at all 8 of our schools for all the hard work they do, day in and day out, building tomorrow's successes today!
